At 9:46 PM last night, March 3rd, Lenawee County Dispatch received a call of a shooting the occurred in a vehicle. Several subjects were in a vehicle that was southbound on Munson Highway in Medina Township. As they stopped at the stop sign on Morenci Road, a large SUV type vehicle pulled up beside them. Someone in the SUV fired a gunshot into the rear driver’s side of the victim’s vehicle striking a passenger in the lower arm. The driver of the victim’s vehicle then fled westbound on Morenci Road towards US-127. Sheriff Welsh added that the suspect vehicle followed the victims for about 1/2 mile before turning around and heading back towards Morenci.

Lenawee Country Central Dispatch was on a cell phone call with the victims immediately after the shooting. The victims were instructed to continue to US-127 where a Hillsdale County Sheriff’s unit and the Waldron Fire Department were waiting to treat the shooting victim and ensure their safety.

The shooting victim was transported to Allegiance Hospital in Jackson by Waldron Fire Department and treated for a non-life threatening injury.

Sheriff Welsh stated the investigation is continuing by Lenawee County Sheriff’s Detectives.
