At approximately 9:05pm on March 29, 2016, deputies from the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a crash on S. Edon Rd. north of Lilac Rd. at the railroad crossing in Reading Township. Upon investigation it was determined that a compact passenger car was in a crash.
According to accident investigators, it was determined that a 2000 Mitsubishi Mirage, two door, was the vehicle involved in the crash. The vehicle was operated by Kade Parish Moes, 16, of 1877 E. Montgomery Rd., Hillsdale, MI. Along with Moes was one, passenger; Peri –Jane Alice-Ann Rosonski, 18, of 8122 Poplar Dr., Reading, MI.
Moes was north bound on S. Edon Rd., left the roadway to the right striking a metal railroad crossing pole, rotated off the pole and came to rest on the east side of the road.
Moes was pronounced deceased at the scene by Reading Emergency Unit personnel. It was determined that Moes was not wearing his seatbelt, Rosonski was. Both driver and passenger air bags were deployed. Rosonski was flown from the scene by Samaritan of Fort Wayne, Indiana to Parkview Regional Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The accident remains under investigation at this time. Deputies were assisted at the scene by members of the Reading Fire Department, Montgomery Fire Department, Allen Fire Department and Reading Emergency Unit.
