A Hillsdale County man has been killed in a motorcycle accident that happened late last night in Fremont.
April 22, 2016 at approximately 11:12 p.m. Steuben County Communications received a call about a motorcycle accident on Fremont Rd just north of County Rd 700 N.
When emergency personnel arrived on scene they located a 1990 Harley Davidson motorcycle in a field on the west side of the road. Located next to the motorcycle was male subject identified as Archie Taylor, 54 year-old male from Reading, Michigan, who was found deceased.
Through the investigation it appeared Mr. Taylor was traveling South on Fremont road when he failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway. The motorcycle then went off the west side of the roadway striking a tree head-on. The motorcycle and Mr. Taylor then continued, coming to rest in the field.
Mr. Taylor was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Steuben County Coroner’s office from blunt force trauma. Mr. Taylor was not wearing a helmet at time the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the Steuben County Sheriff’s office and it is unknown at this time if alcohol is a factor in the crash.
Assisting the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office at the scene were the Fremont Police Department, the Fremont Fire Department, the Steuben County Coroner’s office and Steuben County Communications.
