HOMER, MICH – An 87 year-old woman was struck my a semi while crossing M-60 near the Shell Gas Station in the Village of Homer Tuesday.

At approximately 6:03 pm, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a vehicle versus pedestrian injury accident on West Leigh Street (M-60) and N Hillsdale Street in the Village of Homer.

The 87 year-old woman is Homer resident Valda Shreve, a.k.a. Grandma Bo.

According to police, she was walking across M-60 when she was struck by a semi traveling westbound.

Shreve was flown to the hospital by Air Care.

The driver of the semi was not injured, and alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Michigan State Police, the Homer Fire Department and Jackson Community Ambulance.

Further investigation is being handled by Calhoun County Sheriff’s Accident Reconstruction Division.
