On Wednesday May 11, just after 3:30 p.m. two Norvell Township men, ages 84 and 54 were out on Vineyard Lake, when their boat overturned.
The two men were out on the water for almost 30 minutes before Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy Jay Truchan arrived.
Deputy Truchan was able to use a citizen’s boat and with the assistance of the citizen they were able to reach the two subjects that were approximately 200 yards out in the lake.
Both men were pulled out of the water and into the boat and brought back to shore where they were treated by Jackson Community Ambulance Paramedics.
The men were transported by Jackson Community Ambulance to Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital for treatment of possible hypothermia.
“I express my deepest thanks to the citizens who sprung into action to assist Deputy Truchan along with those who helped secure the men’s boat and vehicle and return it to their residence,” said Jackson County Sheriff Steve Rand. “This is great example of the community getting involved and making a difference.”
