Sheriff Steve Rand reports on Wednesday, August 10th, 2016at 6:40 pm, Deputies responded to a residence in the 9000 block of Moscow Road located in Hanover Township.

Deputies responded to this address with multiple Fire Departments for a structure fire that was reportedly intentionally set.

Deputies found a 48 year old Hanover Township man got into a verbal argument with his girlfriend and threatened to burn her house down. A short time later the suspect poured gasoline on the structure and lit it on fire.

The female, the single occupant of the house was able to exit the home with no injuries.

The 48 year old suspect was apprehended at the scene and was lodged at the Jackson County Jail.

Charges are being requested from Prosecutor Jerry Jarzynka’s Office for Arson and potentially other charges as the investigation continues.

Hanover Township Fire along with several area Fire Departments battled the blaze for several hours.

The structure appears a complete loss.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Michigan State Police.
