Liberty Township, Jackson County, MI. The Michigan State Police are investigating a serious injury traffic crash that occurred on September 29, 2016 at 9:20 p.m. at the intersection of US 127 and Vicary Road, Liberty Township, Jackson County.

A passenger vehicle driven by a 33 year old male from Adrian was traveling south bound on US 127 when it was struck by a vehicle driven by a 32 year old female from Brooklyn.

According to a witness statement,the second vehicle was traveling west bound on Vicary Road and disregarded the stop sign at US 127. The 32 year old Brooklyn women suffered serious injuries and was transported to Henry Ford Allegiance Health by Addison EMS where she remains in critical condition.

The 33 year old Adrian man was also transported to Henry Ford Allegiance Health by Addison EMS and was treated for minor injuries.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by Addison Fire and Rescue, Somerset Fire Department and Rescue, Michigan Department of Transportation, Lenawee County Sheriff Department, and the Jackson County Sheriff Department.

Alcohol does appear to be a contributing factor. The crash remains under investigation.
