On 10-2-16 at approximately 1348hrs Hillsdale County Sheriff Deputies along with the Hillsdale City Police were dispatched by Hillsdale County Central Dispatch to a suicidal female at the Sandy Beach area of Baw Beese Lake. Central Dispatch advised officers the female caller stated she was going to attempt to drown herself in the lake.
When officers arrived on scene they found a distraught female walking out into the water of Baw Beese Lake. The female was visually upset but not communicating with officers and continued to walk into the lake. At that time a Hillsdale County Sheriff Deputy and a Hillsdale City Police Officer went into the water and were able to make contact with the female in approximately 5 feet of water. The female was assisted to shore by officers and was placed into a Hillsdale County Sheriff Department patrol vehicle after being exposed to the cold water. The female refused treatment at the scene and was transported to Hillsdale Hospital by Hillsdale County Sheriff Deputies for treatment.
Deputies were assisted on scene by Hillsdale City Police Department, Hillsdale City Fire Department and Reading Emergency Unit Personnel.
