At approximately 12:20 P.M. on Wednesday, November 2nd, Fremont Police Officers were dispatched to Evans Drive west of Wayne Street in Fremont for a car versus pedestrian accident.

The vehicle involved had already fled the scene before police arrived.

Officers found an injured pedestrian laying on the ground in a yard. That person was flown from the scene by Samaritan Helicopter to a Fort Wayne Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The vehicle that struck the pedestrian, a red Dodge Charger, was later located at the Budgeteer Motel in Angola and found to be stolen out of Michigan.

The driver and a passenger had fled from the vehicle on foot. A search was conducted using two Police K-9’s and the driver and passenger were located.

The driver, Nathan Caudill, age 37 of Constantine, Michigan, was arrested and taken to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office for incarceration. The passenger was released from the scene and not charged.

Caudill (pictured above) is being charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident (misdemeanor), possession of methamphetamine (felony), and receiving stolen property (felony).
