JACKSON COUNTY — Sheriff Steve Rand reports on Sunday, November 20th, 2016 at 8:30 pm, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Spring Arbor Road (M60) near Reynolds in Spring Arbor Township for a traffic crash.

The crash resulted in serious injuries and closed M60 for a period of time. A 2005 Chevrolet Silverado truck was eastbound on Spring Arbor Road when it crossed over the center line and struck a westbound 2012 Toyota Corolla head on.

Preliminary investigation indicates the driver of the Chevrolet truck may have fallen asleep causing him to drive into oncoming traffic.

The driver of the westbound Toyota car, a 21 year old man, from Jackson was pinned in the vehicle. He was extricated from the car by the Spring Arbor Township Fire. Jackson Community Ambulance (JCA) transported him to Henry Ford Allegiance where he was later transferred to University of Michigan Hospital.

His injuries were described as serious but not thought to be life threatening at this time.

The driver of the truck, a 70 year old man from Michigan Center was also transported to Henry Ford Allegiance Health by JCA with non-life threatening injuries.
