At approximately 2:16pm on Monday January 20, 2017, deputies from the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched by 911 to a three vehicle crash on E. Chicago Rd. just east of Halfmoon Lk Rd. in Fayette Township. Upon investigation it was determined that a semitractor trailer and two passenger vehicles were involved in this crash.
According to accident investigators, it was determined that Zeljko Radjenovic 48, of 11250 Glenis Dr., Sterling Heights, MI, was operating a semi-tractor trailer traveling eastbound on E. Chicago Rd. He crested the hill at Half Moon Lake Rd. and collided with a white SUV stopped on the roadway attempting to turn left into a private driveway. Radjenovic struck the rear of the SUV driven by Roger Dale Jermeay 50, of 2040 E. Chicago Rd., Jonesville, MI. Jermeay was pushed into the westbound lane of oncoming traffic. As a result, Jermeay stuck a Chevy Blazer driven by Roy Russel Signor, age 56, of 7391 Arkansaw Rd., Allen, MI and passenger Cathleen Laverne Signor, age 44, of 7391 Arkansaw Rd., Allen, MI. Signor’s vehicle then left the roadway and overturned.
Jermeay was transported by ambulance to Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital in Jackson. Roy Signor was transported by Air Ambulance to University of Michigan Hospital. Cathleen Laverne Signor was flown by St. Vincent’s Life Flight to University of Michigan Hospital were she later passed away.
The accident remains under investigation at this time. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash. Deputies were assisted at the scene by members of the Jonesville Fire Department, Moscow Fire Department, Reading Emergency Unit Ambulance, Somerset Ambulance, the Michigan State Police, Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Division and the Michigan State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit.
