RANSOM, Mich – Crews battled a fire that completely destroyed a house in Ransom Tuesday evening.

At 6:04 p.m. Tuesday, March 14th, Woodbridge Twp Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 10448 S Bird Lake Rd just south of Middle Street.

A neighbor and a passerby called 911 and reported seeing smoke and flames coming from the house.

Fortunately, no one was home when the fire broke out.

Woodbridge Township firefighters arrived on scene the two-story wood structure was fully engulfed in flames. Mutual aid was requested immediately; a full assist from Waldron Fire Department, Pittsford Fire Department for R.I.T. and a tanker, Pioneer Fire Department for a tanker, and Hillsdale City Fire Department for their air trailer. Hudson Area Ambulance & Michigan State Police responded also.

Multiple explosions could be heard during the fire. It took crews well over an hour to completely knock down the blaze.

The house was a total loss. Two adults and three children who were displaced. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
