MONTGOMERY – A man from Montgomery and a pregnant woman from Angola were arrested for operating a meth lab at their home in California Township on Sunday.

Branch County Sheriff Deputies responded to 1023 Delmar Rd to assist Steuben County Sheriff’s Department locate a subject who fled the scene of an accident just before 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

Deputies arrived and found meth components in the driveway of the residence. Upon further investigation, deputies found meth labs inside the home as well.

A 22-year-old man and a 22-year-old pregnant woman living at the home were arrested.

Police say the woman had significant chemical burns on both of her arms and hands from the labs. She was taken to the Community Health Center of Branch County for treatment of her burns.

The man and woman were both arrested for manufacturing methamphetamine and multiple outstanding warrants in Indiana. The investigation will now go to the Branch County Prosecutor Office for criminal charges of operating and maintaining methamphetamine labs. Extradition charges for Indiana warrants are also expected.

Branch County Sheriff Deputies were assisted by 911 Central Dispatch and the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.
