HILLSDALE – Around noon on Wednesday, March 22 authorities were alerted of a possible threat made on Hillsdale College.

Police were looking for a former Hillsdale College student, Michael Lafountain, driving a gold/tan 2005 Ford Ranger with a Michigan plate 6LFY60. Initial information was that the suspect was possibly armed and en route to the college from Coldwater.

Hillsdale College is was on full lockdown until the Lafountain is apprehended. An intercom message telling college students to stay indoors was heard all around campus.

There is a heavy police presence around Hillsdale College.

Hillsdale Community Schools was placed on a soft lockdown, but was cancelled in light of new information regarding the man’s whereabouts.

Authorities pinged Lafountain cell phone and determined that he was traveling westbound on US-12 between Coldwater and Bronson.

Just after 2:00 p.m. Coldwater Police located Lafountain in Coldwater and took him into custody.
