BRANCH COUNTY – The smell of marijuana led troopers to a large marijuana grow operation in Branch County on Saturday.

Around 8:30 p.m. Saturday, March 25th a Michigan State Police Trooper arrived at a home on the 100 block of W Nettleman Rd in Bethel Township to investigate a fraud complaint.

The trooper could smell a strong odor of fresh marijuana, and noticed other items suggesting that marijuana was being grown there.

A large marijuana grow operation was found inside the home’s basement, and in a pole barn behind the home.

Troopers seized 130 plants, over 190 pounds of processed marijuana, illegal steroids, a shot gun, rifle, handgun and cash.

No arrests have been made at this time, but later charges are expected.
