HILLSDALE – Hillsdale City Police with assistance from Michigan State Police K-9 Unit recover several stolen guns Tuesday.

At approximately 10:20 p.m. on Monday, March 27, 2017 the Hillsdale City Police were dispatched to the 300 block of E Bacon St regarding the larceny of several firearms.

According to Hillsdale City Police Chief Scott Hephner, in the early hours of Tuesday, March 28, 2017 officers made contact with a person of interest in the investigation, and additional evidence was obtained.

Hillsdale City Police with the assistance of a Michigan State Police K-9 Unit spent several hours searching in the area around the old railroad bed between Logan St and Superior St.

The extensive ground search covered an area of more than two blocks, and resulted in four stolen firearms and other items being recovered, according to Hephner.

Police arrested Robert Carl Offenburg, 31, of Bryan, Ohio. He is charged and arraigned for home invasion, larceny from a building, and two counts of larceny of a firearm.
