BRANCH COUNTY, MICH – A Butler man was seriously injured after trying to help crash victims in head on crash that occurred outside his home on Clarendon Rd just north of Herricksville Rd in Bulter Sunday night.
Michigan State Police Coldwater Post say Trevor Johnson, 19-years-old of Litchfield, was traveling southbound on Clarendon Rd, when he crossed the center line and hit head-on with Kelsey Dwater, 29 years old of Reading, who was traveling northbound.
A man who lives where the accident occurred, 54-year-old Charles Odette, came out to help the people in the crash. Then another vehicle, driven by Ryan Smith, 26 years old of Homer, traveling southbopund, struck Dwater’s vehicle. Odette was hit and knocked into the ditch.
Everyone involved suffered injuries.
Odette was flown by AirCare to Bronson Hospital. Johnson was transported to Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall by LifeCare ambulance. Smith was transported to Oaklawn by Marshall ambulance. Dwater sought her own treatment.
Troopers were assisted by Litchfield and Quincy fire departments.
While investigating the crash State Troopers located a backpack containing approximately a pound of Marijuana in it. Troopers believe they know who the backpack belongs to. The incident is still under investigation.
