CAMDEN – Fire crews managed to control a massive fire in the Village of Camden, that destroyed a pallet factory.

Just before 11:20 PM on Monday night, Camden Fire Department was dispatched to 300 block of East Bell Street in Camden after Hillsdale County 911 received a report that a transformer sparked and caught a building on fire.

The pallet factory was “fully involved” when firefighters arrived. Flames rose high and smoke from the blaze could be seen for miles.

Fire Departments from Montgomery, Woodbridge Twp, Reading, Hillsdale Twp, Hillsdale City, Fremont (Indiana), Angola (Indiana) Pleasant Lake Twp (Indiana), Orland (Indiana), Northwest Twp (Ohio), Pioneer (Ohio) and Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department and Reading Emergency Unit were among those providing assistance.

No one was inside the building when the fire broke out. No one was injured. The building was a total loss.

The pallet company is Curtis Country Connections. The property is owned by Grover Dietrich of Alvordton, Ohio according to property records.
