ALLEN TOWNSHIP – Police say a toddler has died after a head-on crash that happened on US-12 in Allen Township Tuesday evening.

Just after 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 21, 2017 Hillsdale County 911 received a report of a head-on crash near 9500 W Chicago Rd. Allen Township Fire Department, Reading Emergency Unit, Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department, and LifeCare Ambulance responded.

According to a sheriff’s department news release, Chloe Rae Rubin, age 25, of Quincy, MI, and a juvenile passenger, were traveling westbound on US-12. Rubin crossed the center line and struck a vehicle driven by Melinda Margaret Teubert, age 52, of Litchfield, MI who was traveling eastbound.

Three people were involved in the crash including a 2-year-old child. According to radio traffic, the child was in critical condition and transported to Community Health Center of Branch County by Reading Emergency Unit.

On Wednesday evening the sheriff’s department issued an update that the child succumbed to the injuries.

There has been no update regarding current condition of the two drivers involved.

Police say all subjects were wearing their seat belts.

The crash remains under investigation.
